How does the registry work?

It’s pretty simple really. Collectors request access, an administrator then grants it. The collector then logs into the registry and add his/her contact information. Then the fun begins. The registry is searchable by “online handle”, city, or state. Once you are able to identify a local collector you want to contact, use the online form to e-mail them a message. If the collector wishes to reply, they do so directly to your e-mail – the rest is up to you!

Why do I need to register here?

You may be registered and active at several other message boards (maybe all of them!), but message boards are for chatting. Why bog them down with repetitive posts looking for other local collectors or local toy shows? Even though several sites have “regional” sections, they are rarely looked over. I know I pay them little attention. ? The whole purpose of this site (outlined in the site mission) is to facilitate meetings among fellow collectors, to help in the creation of local collector networks, and to forward the formation of 3 3/4” collector clubs.

What kind of information is required of me to join?

The only personal information required is your name. While that is the bare minimum, it would be beneficial to also add your e-mail address, city and state. The only reason to join is meeting other collectors after all. The maximum info you *can* submit includes your name, city, state, e-mail address, and phone number.

What kind of information can I get from the registry?

The only information you can get directly from the registry would be collectors names, and (if your fellow collectors choose) city, states, and phone numbers. You can not get e-mail addresses directly from the registry. In the grand scheme, you can make contacts that could lead to trades, info on toy shows, and leads on great toy stores to find great deals on Joes. What more can you ask from a small GI Joe website?

Is my personal information safe?

Every effort is taken to keep your information safe. The only information available to the public is the information you offer up. Simply put, the most information accessible would be your name, city, state, and phone number (if you so choose to submit that information).

Will I receive unwanted emails?

There is a very real possibility that you may receive emails from collectors that you don’t necessarily request. You will not receive e-mails offering up great porn sites, ED meds, or get rich schemes from Uganda! At least, not if the administrators can help it! The bottom line to remember here is that you are not required to reply to any emails you receive from cobracommand.org users. The only way your e-mail address is made available to other users is if you reply to their emails.

Where can I submit suggestions?

Any and all suggestions are welcomed and can be directed to info@cobracommand.org. Please constructive criticism only. If you complain about a problem please offer up a reasonable solution along with your complaint. Anyone can point out a shortcoming, but few people can also suggest a solution.

What kind of upgrades are on the horizon?

We've got several additions planned; the first will hopefully be the ability for users to upload pics of themselves. It can be pretty tough to pick a GI Joe collector out of the crowd sometimes. The next upgrades will come from the users. (hopefully!)

How can I get more involved with the registry?

The quickest way to get involved is to spread the word! Suggestions on how to improve the registry would also be a great way to help. General information on what you would like to see here would also be appreciated. If the need arises, additional admins may be needed.

Who is running this circus?

Right now this site is a one man show being run by me - Justin Barnhill. More info can be found HERE. As the need arises, additional staff may be recruited.
